Humanitarian Catastrophe Averted

At today’s news conference, Trump said he prevented a humanitarian catastrophe by allowing two cruise liners to dock in Ft. Lauderdale.  The ships had people infected with the coronavirus (some were dead), and had been floating around the ocean looking for a port that would let them in.

Funny -- A month ago, Trump did not want the Grand Princess ship to dock in California.  Allowing passengers to disembark would increase the number of coronavirus cases in the U.S., he said.

NPR     03/09/2020:
The Grand Princess had been sailing in circles off the coast since late last week after a passenger from a recent trip died from COVID-19 in California. At least one other case, in Nevada, has been linked to that same voyage.  The passengers will be taken off the ship despite previous comments by President Trump, who said on Friday that he would prefer to have all of them stay on board, because the arrival of more infected people on U.S. soil would raise the country's case total.
